Local Police Superintendent Basil Rahming said the autopsy to determine the cause of death of Jett is likely to be performed on Monday, though declined to give more details about the autopsy or funeral.
Rahming told the media that Jett, who had a history of seizures, had been found unconscious in a bathroom of their home by a caretaker.
The families arrived in Grand Bahama Tuesday for a New Year family get-together and had planned to stay until Jan. 9.
Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, both have said previously that their son became very sick when he was a toddler and was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, which leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children.
