President Xi Jinping has urged organizers of the 2022 Winter Olympics to work hard and fulfill China's commitment to the Olympic Family by hosting a successful and exceptional Games.
Xi made the remarks at a recent meeting of the leading Games organizers held in Beijing.
Xi said that while a successful Winter Olympics is also important to the regional economy in North China, joint efforts are needed to promote the awareness of environmental protection among the Chinese people, to raise the level of city management and to promote winter sports in China.
Beijing 2022 will be held in three competition zones, namely downtown Beijing, Beijing's Yan-qing County and Zhang-jia-kou city in Hebei Province.

Maternal health services will be delivered to women in underdeveloped areas, as a motorcade of 40 donated medical vans have set off from Beijing.
The program is called "Mother's Health Express", and was launched by the All-China Women's Federation in 2003. It delivers health examinations, treatments and maternal health services to women through the so called "hospitals on wheels".
The 40 vans will reach needy women in areas including Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang in western China.
In 2014, the program conducted 73,000 health check-ups and 29,000 free consultations.
In another development, five ophthalmological operation vans were donated to China Disabled Persons' Federation to offer free cataract operations to patients in poor regions.
The mobile operation services belong to a program jointly organized by the federation and the Asian Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness.
Since its launch in 1996, the program has already provided eye operations for around 400,000 people.
