A Delaware state trooper is dead after being shot at a convenience store in the town of Bear. The trooper had approached a car and was shot several times. Police say the suspect barricaded himself in a house 15 miles away from the shooting scene.
Jonathan Demme, the Oscar-winning director of "Silence of the Lambs" and "Philadelphia" has died. Demme's publicist said he died Wednesday morning from complications from esophageal cancer. He was 73.
And researchers are creating an artificial womb to improve care for extremely premature babies. The fluid-filled transparent container aims to simulate how fetuses flow in amniotic fluid inside a mother's uterus. Human testing is still 3 to 5 years away.
