Britain's longest terror trial has ended after more than a year. 5 men have all been convicted of plotting terrorist attacks and they've all been sentenced to life in prison. Their plan involved using explosives made of fertilizer to destroy targets ranging from a nightclub to a shopping mall. Investigation revealed ties between those convicted today and the terrorists who attacked London's underground in 2005.
A just released government report lays out a bleak assessment of US reconstruction projects in Iraq that Iraq is still plagued by power outages and a lack of clean water and health care. The Iraq rebuilding project is costing US taxpayers 37 billion dollars.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is heading today to a conference in Egypt aimed at finding solutions to the violence in Iraq. Iran will also attend the conference which is being sponsored by the United Nations.
Deborah Jeane Palfrey says she ran a legal exotic escort service. She's been indicted on federal racketeering and money laundering charges. Palfrey says she plans to name some of her 10,000 clients and use them as defense witnesses.
Georgia's biggest ever wildfire has now claimed about 82,000 acres. Right now officials said the fire is about 70% contained. Strong winds and a lack of rain have prevented firefighters from bringing this fire under complete control. The two-week old wildfire is expected to burn for at least another week.
Delta Airlines, the nation's third largest carrier, officially emerged from bankruptcy today, and the company is showing off a new look to mark the occasion. The company slashed over 1 billion dollars in labor cost and restructured 2.5 billion dollars in debt to help get out of bankruptcy. Company executives say the aircarrier will consider shedding a subsidiary airline and focus more on international flights as a means of generating revenue.
