A Tokyo court sentenced Chen Shifeng, the murderer of a Chinese student killed in Japan last year, to 20 years in prison on Wednesday.

Jiang Ge, a 24-year-old graduate student from eastern China’s Shandong Province, was stabbed to death on the doorstep of her apartment on November 3, 2016. She was studying for her master’s degree at Hosei University.
2016年11月3日，来自中国东部山东省的一名24岁的研究生江歌在自家门口被人捅死。她当时正在日本法政大学攻读硕士学位。
Chen, the 26-year-old murderer, was the ex-boyfriend of Jiang’s roommate Liu Xin. Jiang was allegedly killed defending Liu.
26岁的谋杀犯陈世峰，是江歌室友刘鑫的前男友。据称，江歌是为了保护刘鑫而被杀害的。
In November, Jiang’s mother had been collecting signatures in support of the death penalty for Chen.
去年11月，江歌的母亲一直在收集支持判处陈世峰死刑的签名。
The Tokyo court began the case hearing on December 11.
东京法院于12月11日开庭审理此案。
