第16届广州亚运会开幕式将于2010年11月12日举行。开幕式充分展现了水元素，从一滴珠江水开始，讲述了岭南人与水的故事。海心沙会场中间有一个升降舞台，能在3米的水池中升降自如，这个创意十分新鲜，舞台下降时，水池现出真容，升起来后又变成常规舞台。届时，将有一艘巨轮从珠江出发，向东方扬帆起航，由此开启一个“以城市为背景，以珠江为舞台”的开幕式。
