The president laid a ceremonial wreath a day after posing with a Bible during a controversial visit to the historic Saint John's Episcopal Church.
In Los Angeles, protesters staged a peaceful demonstration early Tuesday. The protesters walked a street near City Hall, stopping to sit in an intersection. Stores around some of New York City's iconic landmarks are cleaning up after late night protests turned violent. The city's first curfew in decades failed to prevent destruction of property as groups of people smashed their way into shops.
And in Sweden, more than six thousand people attended an online protest to express support for the black lives matter movement.
