Hiding in a Shack He was not a
serial killer, but his life was
shattered by the accusation. Now he was on the run and
seething with anger. His hiding place was a
shack in the woods that only had a small opening in the roof where a
shaft of light would come through in the evenings. The water he drank was from a well filled with
sediment. They were
shabby conditions. But he was determined to survive this
setback no matter how long it took.
One day he snuck out to see if
sentiment had changed against him. After sneaking past the
sentries and the
sergeant monitoring them on the edge of town he was able to slip into a
seemingly serene church where the men and women were
segregated to separate areas of the church. After hearing a
sermon that called for his capture, however, he had a sinking
sensation that these accusations were never going to go away by themselves. He had to do something to clear his name.
After leaving through the broken
seam of one of the curtains at the back of the church he went to a small house and looked into the windows. A woman was in the shower
shampooing her hair. He had the desire to
seduce her ,but knew this would only add to the public image of him as a
shark preying on helpless people. When he made a noise, however, and the woman screamed, he had to run away back into hiding again. Now was not the time, he decided. He would have to wait longer before coming out again to try to clear his name.
